Lushious is a dwarf form of the lovely Hymenosporum flavum, and has dense glossy green foliage on a naturally rounded and compact shrub. It is suitable for both sun to quite shady spots, and is very low maintenance. It has perfumed flowers in summer, but a shady growing position will greatly reduce the number of flowers. It grows to around half a metre high and a metre and a half wide, and can be pruned to shape, making it good for low hedging. Good for clay to loam soils as long as it gets reasonable drainage. A handful of slow release fertiliser in spring is beneficial. Also makes a great potted plant. Frost tolerant.
